The design critic Wolfgang Pauser (Vienna) commented as follows on f maurer:
“Most of f maurer’s work binds two key motives:  first the citing from the archive of just things: like a DJ (Design-Jockey?), who manages to create a new mix from long forgotten LPs, bringing a contemporary mood to life.  The second of his motives lies in “functional alienation.”  This is also linked to the “DJ culture”. A DJ does not just play an old LP within its original context and purpose, but creates a new one.  This is known as “recoding” or “recontenxtualization”.  Maurer manages to transfer this current cultural technique into design.”
